Supplemental Education Programs
Based on research conducted by YRC, there is tremendous need for rural libraries, access to the information resources, sports and after-the-school activities. YRC plans to work with the local schools and communities to form youth clubs and youth centers. The youth clubs would be provided support to set up libraries in participation with local schools administration in the existing schools or within the occupational centers. The libraries are to be used by youths and children to spend the after-the-school time to do homework, hold group discussions, do research projects, and access to internet services. Moreover, the youth clubs will be assisted to organize sports events and sports tournaments. The sports events will help the youths to develop tranquility and friendly relationships with youths in other communities and hence provide a plate form for collective efforts for the social and welfare development of the communities at large. The youth clubs will be mobilized to convince parents of those children who are left behind, to send their children to schools. The youth clubs will be encouraged to identify and help those families who are not able to send their children for financial reasons. YRC will provide support to the youth clubs to provide books, uniform and school supplies to those children whose parents cannot afford their schooling. In the words of Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”.
